Lennox Kitchen And Dining Set

As a celebration of my birthday, which I wanted to actually enjoy it this year, I decided to make something specifically to mark the occasion. I also decided to keep it a secret since I couldn't enjoy the surprise myself, others could in my place. So what ended up being an idea morphed into another kitchen, but I wanted something clean and simple, and this is the result. Some may call it dull, or boring, but I am not a flashy person and I find clean lines very appealing.
What you need to know:

  • I changed the shader of the cabinets so the light up better, however this leads to some weird shadowing from occluders of appliances. Be sure to grav the No Occluders default replacement file at the bottom to stop that happening
  • This also compliments my Shaker Kitchen pretty well (especially the appliances, so be sure to pick those up)
  • For the kitchen, I did away with the left and right cabinet designs and turned them into glass versions of the standard and short cabinets which are more usable
  • I made open cabinets so you can display some kitchen clutter. Place the open cabinets with 1/4 tile movement turned on by Pressing F5
  • I have also separated the set into two; dining and kitchen. The archive would just be too big by itself. There is 128MB of content in total, so I hope you all enjoy this present as much as me :)
Updates:

  • 24/10/2018 - found and fixed issue where cabinet footprint stopped use of sinks and dishwashers placed beneath
  • 13/12/2017: updated for the 12/12/17 patch that broke some surfaces as well as fix for shadow lods of open cabinets
  • 10/12/2017: Updated for C+D patch
  • 21/01/2017: With the toddler patch breaking a few things, I have taken the opportunity and gone through and updated my sets to fix issues and generally improve on some things. Here, I have updated all counter with new tags for toddler interaction, as well as remove the buff from the sink when I used a career reward. I have also tagged and fixed the dining chairs for toddlers and added slots to the top of the open cabinets so it can be used as a buffet.
  • 19/07/2016: I have made the chairs and tables to be compatible with dine out and also fixed the issue where the three pieces of open shelving could not be adjusted all the way to the floor. You can download individual files at the bottom of this post.

  4. It's amazing! But where can I find the cristal windows cabinets? The little ones you combine in the pictures o_O
I love that composition but I can't find it in the game :(

    1. Hi! So in ordern to use all the cabinets in TS4, you need to turn off auto placement. When you go to the kitchen room section of buy mode, there is a button at the bottom right of the icon section. Make sure it is listed as off. If not, click it once. Then got to the cabinets, click on the swatches, then the colours will show up along with a little cabinet layout diagram where you can select the other pieces. The additional glass cabinets replace the left and right end cabinets in the diagram :)

    1. your game needs to be fully up to date for my content to work. It is basegame compatible and works in many game so it would be a problem with your setup. I advise you checking out the link at the top of my page to guide you through installing content and the requirements that need to be met for my content to work.

    1. thanks. Unfortunately with TS4 having no CAS, i like lots of styles to make up for it and that results in a larger package. No way you can have lots of choices without an increased package size. Though saying that i take comfort in knowing my sets are generally smaller then the average TS4 patch ;)

    1. that is an odd bug for sure. I am going to suggest you try this tutorial I wrote here so you are just looking at the lennox items not ixed in with anything and just check to make sure its not the only item missing. If it is, perhap try re-downloading? or try checking your mod folder setup is correct. Sometimes files corrupt when dl'ing and sometimes a computer's setup can affect the way cc shows up. Its annoying and hard to pinpoint the cause :/

      the tutorial is here:

  17. In the 3rd example image I see a window that I'm quite certain is not a maxis build. But I can't find it on your blog anywhere unless it's not from here. Please help me find it. I've been looking for windows like this since the base game was released.

PS. I loove your designs <3 they're beautiful and functional and makes the game a lot more fun when you dont actually like to play the game, rather than building houses and making sims

    1. it is actually the 2 way mirror window from GTW that i used. Little bit of trickery as I wanted a window that size for the scene. So not really usuable on a house, and was just done for the image.

    2. Well that's just sad for me. Maybe I should learn how to make some myself then :) Thank you though

  18. Hi,where I can find the update or do I have to download it again!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the updated files have replaced the older files, so you have to redownload. If you have the separated version, you can just download the 3 tables and the open shelving individually if you want.

  19. hey, I'm unable to see the layout diagram that you need to select the different counter top types. It's just off my screen as the colour swatch takes up all the room.
Is there a way for me to select the kitchen counter types (end middles, corner etc) without the diagram?

    1. This is something that is an issue based on a person's screen resolution which I didn't predict happening. Poor choice on the part of EA, but there are a few ways you can get access. Firstly, utilise the filtering options on the right. Filter for cc first (under content) and see if that moves the counters over enough in the catalogue to get access. Then try style (filter for modern). Also try searching the set on the right. If you have s4s installed, you could also change the value of the objects to move their position in the catalog. One of those methods should work for you.

  20. Amazing work! Just one question, where did you get the coffee maker and blinds cc in the third kitchen?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the coffee makes is actually by Maxis, I think it may have came with Get together. The blinds are from my shaker kitchen set which i also made addons for and can be found in my downloads section:

  21. Hi, thank you for all your beautiful creations!

I can't manage to place the opened cabinets to the same height of the closed ones. Even with MoveObjects cheat on, they are always a little bit to low or high. How can I solve this?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi! When in build mode press F5. This turns one quarter tile placement (default is half tile). That will make placing the cabinets, as well as all other items easier ingame :)

  24. Hi. I was recoloring your kitchen set for my own use, but I couldn't find the glass cabinets in Sims Studio to be able to recolor them. I could recolor the regular cabinets, but I couldn't find the glass cabinets to recolor them. I was able to recolor the kitchen set except the glass cabinets. Can you tell me how to find them in Sims Studio so I can recolor them please? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You need to go to the mesh tab of S4S. From there change the model and scroll to the glass cabinets. There you can get the texture needed to recolour it. You need to change the mesh in order to get the option to import the new textures which most people are unaware of. Hopefully that helps you :)

  27. Just wanted to let you know that with the latest Sims 4 update (12/11/17), all custom counters and tables are not working. When placed I get a "script error." Is there something I need to do on my end to correct that, or does that require another update from the creators of the content? Thanks.

    1. If you haven;t redownloaded then do so, everything has been updated up to the 121217 patch.

  28. Thank you for updating these so quickly. In spite of the frustration it brings you, your diligence is greatly appreciated! :)

  29. Thank you for updating your fabulous creations! I love using them in my homes. :) I re-downloaded, and so far, everything is running smoothly. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry for the trouble, but I re-downloaded the Lennox and Shaker Kitchens today and received a "script call failed" on a few of the counters. The islands seem to work, but the wood lennox counters throw the error and can't be placed. I cleaned out my folders and tried to download a second time, but same error with just a couple counters in the pack. Doesn't matter if the package file is separated or not.

  31. Are you absolutely positive you do not have any old files in your mods folder? I have had this issue with a few people and each time they have had old files lingering around causing the issue.
The only other option i can suggest since i know the files work is you can download Sims4Studio and run the batch fix to correct the script call failure. That is all I can suggest to you to solve the issue.

    1. Yes, its very strange. I cleared my cache, and then removed all CC except your four (freshly downloaded) kitchen sets. New game as well. The regular standards counters for Shaker, Lennox and Blandco all throw out a script call error. But the islands function normally. I cleared my caches again and put the older, archived kitchen sets in with no problems. I also ran the script batch fix a couple times but there was nothing to fix. I hope this helps, I'm so sorry for the trouble because your sets are my absolute favorite.

    2. You have updated to the latest patch?

      Delete
    3. Nope, because I'm an idiot and I am ashamed. I thought I had. Updated the patch and all counters working perfectly. Thanks again!

    4. Thought so. The new counter tuning is all-new in the patch, while the islands were updated, it used an already-existing one. Good to know its all working for you now :)

  34. Hi Peacemaker, love this kitchen set and honestly we love all the things you've made.
However, myself and my mum have come across a problem with all your kitchen counters. When we put a corner counter between 2 straight ones, the corner one either shrinks or growth so is no-longer the same size and isn't in line with the other counter. We tried moveobject and we've not sure if it's a problem with the mod, game or anything we've done.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the hard work necessary to create all your wonderful mods.

    1. kitchen meshes have 2 versions, a wall mesh and one when not placed against a wall. Most times this works fine but when I want to make a bar coming out from the wall and use an inner corner like that, Maxis' kitchens end up leaving a gap. I made a choice to rectify this by having a the wall mesh inner corner be the same as the version away from the corner to avoid the gap. It should only be visible if you play with walls down and be hidden inside the wall when it is up. Is this what you are referring to? I also do this with ovens so I can use them on an island as well instead of being limited to placing against a wall.

      Delete
    2. Yes, I believe that's it Good to know that it's not an issue with the game or the mod. Thanks for getting back to us :)

  35. Hi! Thank you very much for all your awesome work. I just wanted to ask what does "No occluder appliances" mean?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is basically the name of a resource that blocks out light for a mesh. This interferes with the new shader of the cabinets and can make them darker. So in order for them to look right, the default replacement file i provide overrides that resource to remove them.

    2. Oh, nice, thank you for the explanation! :)

  36. i LOVE all of your works! but i can't manage to find how to place a rounded open cabinet counter like in your 4th kitchen. could you help me with that?

I also like the kitchen items you used for your kitchens, are there any CC or is it all from the game?
    Thank you so much!

    1. Hi! You need to have on manual placement in order to access all the peices, then will not show up as an option when auto placement is on. To access, press the little clog icon either in the item window, or the kitchen section of buy mode, then look for the curved items.
Decor items used either come from this set or my Shaker kitchen you can find here on my blog.

      Delete
    2. I already put the manual placement active, but I still can't find the rounded open kitchen? It looks like you are using it as an island but I can't find it there either..

      Delete
    3. it's 2 of the inner round corner island pieces turned inwards. I adjusted the top so it could be done that way to create an extra wide island if needed without leaving a gap. It may look like I used counters, but in that picture, the island it just made of all island pieces turned inward, plus a bar.
